Privacy Policy – IndexedDB Explorer
Effective Date: October 2, 2025
IndexedDB Explorer is a Chrome/Edge extension designed to help users view and manage IndexedDB databases directly in their browser. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data, including permissions and analytics, to ensure transparency and protect your privacy.
Permissions Usage
- <all_urls>: Allows the extension to access IndexedDB databases on any website in the active tab. This enables features like viewing database structures, searching records, and performing CRUD operations. Access occurs only when you interact with the extension's popup.
- tabs: Enables the extension to identify the active tab ID for IndexedDB operations, open the popup interface in a new tab, and perform anonymous analytics (e.g., tracking popup openings).
- scripting: Permits injecting content scripts into the active tab to interact with IndexedDB databases, supporting data exploration, search, and visualization.
- storage: Saves an anonymous client ID in your browser for Google Analytics to track usage patterns (e.g., how often the popup is opened). No personal or sensitive data is stored or shared. In incognito mode, this ID is isolated.
Data Collection and Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data to improve the extension.
- Events Tracked: Examples include opening the popup (
popup_opened
) or installing the extension (extension_installed
). Each event is linked to an anonymous client ID.
- Data Stored: A unique, non-personal client ID (random UUID) is stored locally using
chrome.storage.local
. No personally identifiable information such as names, emails, or webpage content is collected.
- Data Transmission: Events are sent to GA4 via a secure API with an obfuscated secret key. Data is aggregated and used solely to understand usage patterns.
Data Sharing
- No data collected by the extension is shared with third parties, except for anonymous analytics sent to Google Analytics.
- We do not collect, store, or share personal information or sensitive webpage data.
Incognito Mode
- The extension functions normally in incognito mode.
- Analytics use isolated storage for the client ID to prevent cross-session tracking.
